Agartala, May 21, 2025: Tripura Member of Parliament Rajib Bhattacharjee recently visited a Bru resettlement site to assess the implementation of the 2020 quadripartite agreement, which facilitated the permanent settlement of displaced Bru families. This historic accord, signed by the Central Government, Tripura Government, Mizoram Government, and Bru representatives, aimed to rehabilitate over 37,500 Bru individuals who had fled ethnic violence in Mizoram in 1997. During his visit, MP Bhattacharjee evaluated the progress of the ₹821 crore development package announced by Union Home Minister Amit Shah. This comprehensive package includes provisions for permanent housing, electricity, clean drinking water, healthcare, educational infrastructure, and road connectivity for the resettled families.
