Tension Flares in Belonia as Tipra Motha Protests Against Border Dam Construction

  Agartala, April 28, 2025: Tension gripped the Belonia Ballamukha area today as Tipra Motha workers and supporters staged protests against the alleged illegal construction of a dam by Bangladesh authorities near the international border. The demonstrators accused Bangladesh of violating the International Boundary Delimitation Act by erecting the structure close to Indian territory. The situation escalated at Bankar Uttar Para, where a large number of Tipra Motha supporters gathered, chanting slogans and demanding immediate action. The local police and Border Security Force (BSF) personnel swiftly arrived to contain the unrest. Ambedkar concluded today with a special seminar at the Rabindra Satabarshiki Bhavan in Agartala.
