Zero Tolerance in West District: Crackdown on Speeding, Drunk Driving, and Drug Transport

  West Tripura, May 24 – With an aim to ensure road safety and law enforcement, West District authorities have initiated a special drive targeting overspeeding vehicles, drunk drivers, and the illegal movement of narcotics. Multiple teams of traffic police and district enforcement units are conducting intensified checking drives at major junctions and highways. Violators are being penalised on the spot, and in cases involving narcotics, strict legal action is being pursued. The administration has reiterated a “zero tolerance” stance on such violations and urged the public to cooperate. “Our message is clear—follow the rules or face consequences.     Prasenjit Paul Accused of Raping Minor Girl In a shocking incident, a 30-year-old man, Prasenjit Paul, was arrested yesterday for allegedly raping a minor girl in Madhya Dukli. The case was registered at the West Agtali Women’s Police Station on May 19, 2025, under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. According to police sources, the accused was on the run after the incident but was later apprehended by law enforcement. Following due legal procedures, he was produced before the Learned Court, which remanded him to judicial custody. Authorities have assured that a thorough investigation is underway to ensure justice is served. Local residents expressed outrage over the incident, demanding strict punishment for the accused.
