21 Held for Border Violations; CM Saha Calls for Tightened Vigil

Agartala, May 22: Tripura Police and the Border Security Force (BSF) have jointly detained 21 individuals—16 Bangladeshi nationals and five Indian citizens—for violating immigration laws by crossing the India-Bangladesh border illegally. Officials stated that nine Bangladeshi nationals, including women and children, were stopped by BSF troops near the Manu Border Outpost while trying to return home. They had been working in Agartala for the past two years without legal documentation. Separately, a group of five Bangladeshis from Kurigram district were caught in Sepahijala's Madhupur area. Acting on a tip-off, Tripura Police captured the group near the border with help from villagers. They later confessed to attempting to travel to Delhi using the services of a human trafficker.
