*Location: New Delhi, India*

In a significant meeting held on Saturday, Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi to discuss various ongoing development projects in the state and outline future plans. The Chief Minister's Office issued a statement on Sunday summarizing the key topics covered during their discussions, which also included several international connectivity projects in the pipeline.

The projects under discussion encompassed multiple facets of connectivity, including air, rail, and highway infrastructure. Among these, the highly anticipated air connectivity between Tripura and Bangladesh is set to take off later this month with an inaugural Agartala-Chittagong flight. However, specific details regarding this maiden journey are yet to be announced. Additionally, the long-awaited Agartala-Akhaura rail project, which has faced multiple delays, is now expected to be commissioned by the end of the current year.

Tripura, being a landlocked state with Bangladesh surrounding it on three sides, shares a significant 856-km-long international border with its neighboring country. Improved connectivity with Bangladesh is poised to provide the state with a strategic advantage in terms of trade, transport, and industrialization.

During the meeting, Chief Minister Dr. Saha also sought Prime Minister Modi's support for forthcoming development initiatives in Tripura. Furthermore, he extended early birthday wishes to the Prime Minister, whose birthday was on September 17, 2023.

Taking to social media platform 'X' after the meeting, Dr. Manik Saha expressed his gratitude for the opportunity, stating, "Extremely honored to have met Pradhan Sevak of Bharat Adaraniya Shri Narendra Modi Ji in New Delhi today. Congratulated the Hon’ble PM for successfully holding the G20 Presidency & also received his guidance for the overall development of Tripura. His encouragement has always been the guiding light for me, in delivering good governance up to the last mile in society."

Sources within the Chief Minister’s Office revealed that Prime Minister Modi expressed his satisfaction over the Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) recent victories in the bypolls in Dhanpur and Boxanagar Assembly constituencies earlier this month. Dr. Saha also reportedly apprised the Prime Minister of his government's remarkable progress in various sectors, including education, healthcare, infrastructure, and economic growth, all of which have positively impacted the lives of citizens in the state.

The discussions encompassed a wide array of topics related to economic development, investment opportunities, agriculture, healthcare, and environmental conservation, as stated in the Chief Minister’s Office statement.

Dr. Saha's visit to New Delhi comes after the BJP, which was governing the state with a slender majority of 31 MLAs in the 60-member state Assembly, bolstered its prospects with two additional seats, including Boxanagar, previously held by the CPI(M) for nearly three decades. This recent electoral success has increased the BJP's tally in the House to 33 members.
