62ND CIVIL DEFENCE AND HOME GUARD DAY: A TRIBUTE TO UNSUNG HEROES

Tripura commemorated the 62nd Civil Defence and Home Guard Day with a grand parade that paid homage to the dedicated personnel who have been pivotal in maintaining public safety and providing critical emergency services since the organization's establishment in 1962.

The impressive ceremony, held at the Manaranjan Debbarma Memorial Police Parade Ground in AD Nagar, began with Social Welfare Minister Santana Chakma hoisting the flag, symbolizing the pride and patriotism of the civil defence and home guard units. Following the flag hoisting, she personally presented a Guard of Honour, highlighting the government's deep respect for these essential services.

A standout moment of the event was the felicitation ceremony, where Minister Chakma honored various security personnel for their outstanding achievements in their respective fields. This recognition celebrated the individual and collective contributions of those who have gone above and beyond in their service to the nation and the state.

The parade featured a powerful display of solidarity, with active participation from the Tripura State Rifles (TSR), National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), and other paramilitary forces. The event culminated in an oath-taking ceremony, where defence personnel reaffirmed their dedication to public service and national security.

For over six decades, these forces have been instrumental in maintaining law and order, providing crucial disaster relief, and supporting community safety during emergencies. Their role extends beyond traditional security measures, encompassing humanitarian aid, disaster management, and community support.

The commemoration served as a powerful reminder of the critical role played by civil defence and home guard personnel in protecting and serving the citizens of Tripura, with the felicitation of distinguished personnel adding a personal touch to the collective celebration of service and sacrifice.
