CM Prof. Dr. Manik Saha Receives a Gift from Russian ISKCON Monk on Stage


Tripura Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha launched the 43rd edition of the prestigious Agartala Book Fair amidst much fanfare and cultural celebrations. The inauguration ceremony saw the participation of several prominent dignitaries, including Minister Santana Chakma, Deputy Speaker Ramprasad Pal, and MLA Minarani Sarkar.

The event commenced with a traditional welcome ceremony where guests were honored with floral bouquets and the customary Risha. The lighting of the ceremonial lamp marked the official beginning of the fair, followed by a spectacular cultural showcase featuring traditional Bengali and Tripuri dance performances that highlighted the region's rich cultural heritage.


During the event, Dr Saha took time to visit the photography exhibition curated by local photojournalists under the Information and Cultural Affairs (ICA) department. The Chief Minister also made rounds of various stalls established by publishers and community organizations, commending their dedication to promoting literature and community service.

The book fair, a significant cultural event in Tripura's calendar, aims to foster reading habits and promote literary activities in the region. The presence of numerous publishers and community organizations underscores the fair's importance in bridging the gap between authors, publishers, and readers while celebrating the literary heritage of the state.
