Agartala: Man Arrested for Brutal Killing of Dog




Agartala, Mar 15: The Teliamura police have arrested Biswapkha Jamatia, also known as Badarhari, for the brutal killing of a dog in Gorjantali Hadrai Para under Teliamura police station. The incident, which occurred on March 11, was captured in a viral video showing Jamatia repeatedly beating the dog until it died.  


Representatives of animal welfare organizations, including Dr. Ranbir Roy from Pawsome and K-Nine, have demanded strict punishment for the accused. Separate written complaints were filed with the police and administration, urging action against the cruelty.  


Following public outrage and pressure from social organizations, the Teliamura police launched an investigation. Tipramatha party supremo Pradyut Kishore also expressed concern over the incident on social media. A case was registered at the West police station, and a special team was formed to track down the accused, who had gone into hiding.  


On Saturday, around 12 PM, the police successfully arrested Jamatia. He is set to be presented before the Khowai court on Sunday. The arrest has been welcomed by animal rights activists, who continue to advocate for stricter enforcement of laws against animal cruelty.  


This incident has sparked widespread condemnation, highlighting the need for greater awareness and action to prevent such acts of violence against animals.
