Biplab Deb Highlights Minority Welfare at BJP Foundation Day Meet in Sonamura

Agartala, April 8, 2025:
Marking the 46th foundation day of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), a workers' conference was organised at the Sonamura Town Hall, where former Chief Minister and Rajya Sabha MP Biplab Kumar Deb addressed party members and supporters.

In his address, Deb focused on the steps taken by the central government under Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the upliftment and welfare of minority communities, particularly Muslims. He stressed that opponents of the Waqf Bill are working against the interest of India’s minority population, especially Muslims.

Highlighting reforms introduced since 2014, Deb mentioned the abolition of triple talaq and amendments to the Waqf Bill as key decisions aimed at ensuring social justice and empowering women in the Muslim community. He described triple talaq as a deeply regressive practice that had ruined the futures of many women, trapping them in cycles of insecurity and injustice.

“The BJP government took a bold step by abolishing triple talaq, not for votes, but to secure justice and dignity for Muslim women,” Deb asserted. He lauded Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership for taking decisive actions in favour of social reform, even if such decisions might not bring electoral gains.

The event also saw enthusiastic participation from local BJP leaders and karyakartas, who reiterated their commitment to the party’s principles and policies. Deb’s remarks served both as a reflection on the party’s journey since its foundation and a reaffirmation of its current vision focused on inclusive development.
