CM Manik Saha Slams Opposition, Inaugurates 45 Projects in North Tripura

Agartala, April 09: Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha launched a scathing attack on the opposition CPIM and Congress during a visit to North Tripura district today, where he inaugurated 45 development projects across various sectors. Addressing a public gathering, Dr. Saha accused both parties of engaging in "negative politics" and claimed they were rapidly losing public relevance.

“In the coming days, both CPIM and Congress will vanish as they are now competing with NOTA,” said the Chief Minister. He remarked that the opposition parties failed to recognise the development happening in the state and added, “If they can’t see development, they should go for cataract surgery.”

Dr. Saha accused the Left and Congress of being ideologically disconnected from the people. “They don’t believe in God, they act only negatively, and their existence is fading. They are made for each other,” he added, urging opposition leaders to visit the North District and witness the state’s progress firsthand.

Highlighting the work of the BJP-led government under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Dr. Saha noted that six national highways are now under construction, compared to just one under the former Left regime. “We believe in work, not just words,” he said.

He further said that the state government is focusing on inclusive development, particularly for tribal communities. “Since 2014, PM Modi has ensured the upliftment of Janajati people, while earlier governments only divided communities for political gain,” he said.

The 45 inaugurated projects span departments like Health, Education, ARDD, and more. Dr. Saha mentioned that Tripura has achieved national recognition for Panchayat-level development, receiving seven Panchayati Raj awards. “Development of villages is vital for the country’s progress,” he said.

Other highlights included the upcoming installation of 216 high-mast solar lights and progress in the Jal Jeevan Mission, with 85.12% of the target already achieved. Dr. Saha assured full coverage by next year.

The event was attended by Social Welfare Minister Tinku Roy, Speaker Biswabandhu Sen, MLA Jadab Lal Nath, Secretary Apurba Roy, DM Chandni Chandran, and SP Avinash Rai, among others.
