In honour of the birth anniversary of Kazi Nazrul Islam, the Department of Information and Cultural Affairs, Government of Tripura, organised a solemn and vibrant cultural event titled ‘Kobi Pronam’ at the Rabindra Centenary Hall on Saturday. The programme was marked by floral tributes, poetic recitations, musical performances, and reflections on the enduring legacy of the rebel poet.
The event saw the presence of several dignitaries, including the Hon’ble Minister for Sports, Youth Affairs and Social Welfare, Sri Tinku Roy, who paid heartfelt tribute to the poet. Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said, “May the immortal creations of Kazi Nazrul Islam, his spirit of rebellion, and his message of humanity continue to inspire our minds and actions for generations to come.”
The programme included a series of performances highlighting Nazrul’s revolutionary poetry and his contributions to literature and the freedom struggle. Cultural artists and school students took part in the event with vibrant renditions of the poet’s songs and verses.
Officials from the Information and Cultural Affairs Department, literary enthusiasts, and members of the public attended the event, reflecting on Nazrul’s vision of social harmony, justice, and human dignity.
Kazi Nazrul Islam, regarded as the ‘Bidrohi Kobi’ (Rebel Poet), remains a symbol of resistance against oppression and a voice for the voiceless. Events such as this serve as a reminder of his timeless relevance in today’s world.
The programme concluded with a standing ovation and a collective rendition of Nazrul’s patriotic songs, resonating with the spirit of unity and cultural pride.
