Tripura to Launch 'Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan' from May 29 CM Manik Saha to Inaugurate State-Level Campaign at Bishramganj
Agartala, May 28: In a major step toward agricultural development and farmer empowerment, the Tripura government will launch the ‘Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan’ from May 29 as part of a nationwide initiative ahead of the Kharif season. The campaign will be inaugurated by Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha at Bishramganj, announced Agriculture Minister Ratanlal Nath during a press briefing at the State Secretariat.
The awareness campaign, which will run until June 12, aims to educate over 1.72 lakh farmers across 864 locations in Tripura. The programme will focus on disseminating information regarding central and state agricultural schemes, modern farming practices, organic and natural farming, and the latest agricultural technologies including the use of drones.
Minister Nath informed that each campaign site will host three awareness meetings daily, involving one progressive farmer and expert panels formed by local committees. These panels will include members from the Agriculture, Horticulture, ARDD, ICAR, KVKs, Agriculture College, and the Fisheries and Veterinary departments.
To maximise outreach, 24 specially equipped ‘Krishi Raths’ will be mobilised across the state, engaging directly with farmers and communities. These mobile awareness units will deliver key messages and promote interaction on field-level agricultural practices.
Highlighting the state’s agricultural achievements, Nath said production levels are reaching record highs due to the adoption of advanced technology and systematic support from the government. Organic farming, in particular, has seen a significant leap—from just 2,000 hectares in 2018 to 20,000 hectares at present.
The campaign also emphasises the importance of natural and organic farming, drone-based crop monitoring, and sustainable agriculture. Minister Nath added that the Union Agriculture Minister is also expected to visit Tripura during the campaign period.
The Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan represents a transformative push to equip farmers with knowledge, enhance productivity, and promote environmentally responsible farming in Tripura. With strong coordination among scientific institutions, experts, and government departments, the campaign promises to be a milestone in the state's agricultural roadmap.
