Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed Bharatiya Janata Party functionaries of India in Bhopal today as part of My Booth Strongest, part of a month-long programme.  The 185th birth anniversary of literature emperor Bankimchandra Chattopadhyay was celebrated by Tripura Government Information and Culture Department at Rabindra Centenary Bhavan. Mayor of Agartala Purnigam Deepak Majumder was present on that day.

  Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha inaugurated the historical and traditional Kharchi Puja in Agartala on June 26. CM Manik Saha performed traditional rituals in Chaturdasa Devata Temple. Kharchi Puja is one of the biggest festivals in the Northeast. This is the longest festival in North East which continues for 7 days. Lakhs of pilgrims visit Chaturdasa Devata Temple during this festival.

Kharchi Puja is a prominent festival celebrated across Tripura. It is observed on the Shukla Paksha Ashtami (eighth lunar day) day in the month of Ashad, which usually takes place in July. During Kharchi Puja, the people of Tripura worship 14 gods that comprise the dynastic deity of the Tripuri community. The rituals are observed for one week in the temple dedicated to the 14 gods, located in Agartala.   History of Kharchi Puja The word ‘Kharchi’ is derived from two words ‘Khar’ and ‘chi’ which means ‘sin’ and ‘chi’, respectively. So it is a festival where there is a ritual of cleaning the earth. During this festival, the people of Tripura also worship the earth along with their 14 deities. Although Kharchi Puja has tribal origins, it is celebrated by both tribal and non-tribal people of Tripura. In 6 Agartala constituency,  a mega Joining program and meeting was held in the Hindi school on the initiative of Pradesh Secretary Papiya Dutta. Hon’ble  Chief Minister of the State Prof. Dr. Manik Saha, State BJP President Rajeev Bhattacharya and other leaders will be present there. Around 500 people have joined from different   political parties. 

 

 

 On the occasion of World International Olympic Day on June 23, a rally was organized under the initiative of Tripura Olympic Association. Various sports organizations associated with Tripura Olympic Association participated in this rally of the day. The rally started from the front of Rabindra Bhavan and circled the various roads of the city and ended in front of Rabindra Bhavan. Minister Vikas Debvarma, Samaj Sevak Rajeev Bhattacharya, Secretary of Tripura Olympic Association Sujit Roy, Chairman Ratan Saha and various sports associations were present in the rally.
