Agartala, 23rd August 2025: Air safety concerns are once again in the spotlight after an IndiGo flight from Dibrugarh to Guwahati, carrying Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, was forced to divert to Agartala on Sunday due to adverse weather conditions, the Chief Minister’s Office confirmed. The unexpected diversion has raised eyebrows, coming barely a week after a similar incident involving another flight on the same route. On that occasion, a Guwahati–Dibrugarh flight reportedly ‘misapproached’ the runway at Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International (LGBI) Airport, leading to panic among passengers before it landed safely on its second attempt.
