Agartala, May 2: The finals of the much-anticipated Nani Gopal Memorial U-13 and U-17 Inter-District Football Tournament were held today at Umakanta Maidan with tremendous fanfare and excitement. Organised by the Tripura Football Association, the tournament showcased some of the most promising young footballers from across the state.
The grand final attracted a large crowd of spectators who filled the stadium with cheers and applause as both matches delivered top-class sporting action. The energy was palpable as players demonstrated their skills, teamwork, and determination.
Several notable guests, including Mayor of Agartala, Mr. Deepak Majumder, were in attendance. The prize distribution ceremony was presided over by Tripura Sports Minister, Mr. Tinku Roy, who lauded the players for their enthusiasm and dedication.
Speaking on the occasion, the Minister remarked, “We are proud of these young footballers. Sports is not just entertainment—it builds discipline, teamwork, and resilience. The government will continue to support such events to boost the morale of our youth.”
He emphasised the state’s commitment to expanding opportunities for sportspersons through better infrastructure and regular tournaments.
The final matches not only celebrated sporting excellence but also inspired hundreds of young spectators to dream big in the field of sports.
