Guwahati, July 18, 2025:
Tripura continues to set benchmarks in the energy sector, with the state spearheading the North-East's transition toward energy independence. Attending the 29th North Eastern Region Power Committee (NERPC) meeting in Guwahati, officials from Tripura highlighted a major achievement — the launch of the region’s first-ever 800 MW Pumped Storage Project, a bold step towards sustainable energy and enhanced grid stability.
The delegation from Tripura, led by Power Minister Shri Ratan Lal Nath, played a crucial role in safeguarding the interests of North Eastern states by opposing a proposed gas price hike. This decisive stance will ensure continued affordability and reliability in power supply across the region.
Under the dynamic leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji, Tripura remains committed to the national vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat, clean energy expansion, and regional empowerment. The NERPC meeting served as a platform to reaffirm this commitment and strengthen interstate coordination for power development.
