Hundreds of STGT (Selection Test for Graduate Teachers) candidates gathered before the Chief Minister's residence in Agartala on Thursday, demanding the immediate release of their 2022 exam results.
The protesters, who had appeared for the exam nearly three years ago, expressed frustration over the government's delay in publishing the results and initiating the recruitment process.
The candidates alleged that despite repeated appeals to the Chief Minister and other officials, their concerns have remained unaddressed. They are worried that a new STGT notification issued for 2025 might render many of them ineligible due to age restrictions. "We waited patiently for years. Now, a new STGT notification has been issued for 2025, but many of us have crossed the age limit. How is this fair?" questioned one protester.
The protest led to police intervention, with several demonstrators being detained and escorted away from the high-security area. The incident highlights the growing discontent among unemployed youth in the state and the urgent need for transparent and timely recruitment processes ¹.
