Agartala, April 20: A voluntary blood donation camp was organised at the GB Hospital Auditorium in Agartala on Saturday, marking the first annual conference of the Government Medical Laboratory Technology Employees Association. The event was graced by notable dignitaries, including Agartala Municipal Corporation Mayor and MLA Deepak Majumdar, Health Department Director Tapan Majumdar, and Association General Secretary Utpal Chakma.
A total of 45 individuals voluntarily came forward to donate blood during the camp. The initiative was widely appreciated by the guests, with Mayor Deepak Majumdar lauding the efforts of the organisers and participants. He underscored the critical role of blood donation in saving lives and praised the donors for their selfless contributions, calling the act a blend of humanitarianism and civic duty.
In his speech, Mayor Majumdar encouraged continued participation in such socially responsible initiatives. He emphasised that regular blood donation not only helps hospitals maintain an adequate blood supply but also strengthens the spirit of community service.
The Mayor expressed his gratitude to all donors, organisers, and attendees, noting that events like these set a positive example for society. He hoped that this initiative would inspire more citizens to come forward for similar causes in the future.
The camp not only served as a medical contribution but also helped raise awareness about the importance of voluntary blood donation.
