Tripura Observes World Red Cross Day 2025 with Blood Donation Drive Governor Indra Sena Reddy Highlights Red Cross Values and Youth Engagement.

Agartala, May 8: The Indian Red Cross Society’s Tripura State Branch celebrated ‘World Red Cross Day 2025’ with a meaningful event and a blood donation camp at its headquarters in Agartala on Wednesday morning. The programme was inaugurated by Tripura Governor and President of the State Red Cross Branch, Shri Indra Sena Reddy Nallu.

Commemorating the birth anniversary of Henry Dunant, the founder of the Red Cross Movement and the first Nobel Peace Prize recipient, the event drew enthusiastic participation from students, Red Cross volunteers, NCC cadets, medical personnel, and citizens.

In his address, Governor Reddy reflected on the core principles of the Red Cross—humanity, impartiality, neutrality, voluntary service, unity, and universality. “The Red Cross embodies relief and hope. Its volunteers are the real heroes in times of need, whether during health crises or natural disasters,” he said.

He lauded the efforts of the Tripura Red Cross Society in its continuous humanitarian work, particularly in disaster relief, healthcare outreach, and voluntary blood donation. He stressed the importance of youth involvement in Red Cross activities and encouraged more young citizens to join and contribute to social service.

“The act of donating blood is among the noblest acts of service. It saves lives and fosters a sense of social responsibility among citizens. I urge everyone, especially the youth, to actively participate in such life-saving initiatives,” he said.

The blood donation camp witnessed commendable turnout, with dozens of students, Red Cross workers, and members of the public voluntarily donating blood. The Governor also interacted with several young donors and volunteers, appreciating their spirit of service.

Senior officials of the Indian Red Cross Society, local dignitaries, and healthcare professionals attended the event. The programme concluded with a collective pledge by all present to uphold and advance the humanitarian mission of the Red Cross.

The celebration stood as a powerful reminder of the enduring relevance of the Red Cross principles, and its vital role in fostering compassion and resilience in society. As the world continues to face challenges like climate change, health emergencies, and displacement, the Red Cross movement remains a symbol of unity, service, and global solidarity.

Tripura’s observance of World Red Cross Day 2025 successfully reinforced the message of humanitarian commitment and active citizenship, inspiring many to join the cause of service beyond self.
