Tripura to Host 73rd BN Mallick Memorial All India Police Football Championship




Agartala, February 21: For the first time, Tripura is set to host the prestigious 73rd BN Mallick Memorial All India Police Football Championship, featuring both men’s and women’s categories. The tournament will commence on February 24 and conclude on March 7, spanning 12 days. A press conference was held at the Police Headquarters Conference Hall at 6 PM today, where Tripura Police Director General Amitabh Ranjan briefed the media about the preparations and details of the event.




DG Ranjan stated that all preparations are in the final stages, and the state team is rigorously practicing to deliver a strong performance. He expressed confidence that the Tripura team would achieve good results in the championship. A total of 43 teams, including contingents from BSF, CRPF, RPF, and CISF, will participate in the tournament. Among these, 34 teams will compete in the men’s category, while 9 teams will participate in the women’s category. Teams are expected to start arriving in the state from February 21.


The matches will be held across five venues in Tripura: Umakanta Stadium, Tulabagan Stadium in Mohanpur, Sachindra Colony Ground in Jirania, Jampuijala Ground, and Chandrapur Ground in Udhaypur. DG Ranjan emphasized that this is the first time an international-standard football tournament is being organized in Tripura. He assured that all participating teams and referees will be provided with national-level accommodation, food, lodging, and practice facilities, including necessary equipment.

The championship aims to promote sportsmanship and camaraderie among police forces across the country while showcasing Tripura’s capability to host large-scale sporting events. The event is expected to draw significant attention and support from football enthusiasts in the region.
