Agartala, May 25: In a welcome boost to local infrastructure and employment, the long-dormant Delhiwala Petrol Pump at Jaynagar, Jirania, was officially reopened on Sunday under the new name "Ganpati Petrol Pump." This relaunch was made possible under the ownership of Gautam Pal, a local entrepreneur known for his community engagement.
The inauguration was graced by Minister for Transport and Tourism, Sushanta Chowdhury, who lit the ceremonial lamp and cut the ribbon, signalling the start of a new chapter for the petrol pump. Dignitaries such as Kalyani Saha Roy, Chief Whip of the State Legislative Assembly; Ranjit Roy Chowdhury, Mandal President; and Ratan Das, Chairperson of Jirania Municipality, also attended the ceremony.
Marking the occasion, devotional chanting and sacred rituals were performed to invoke blessings. As part of a touching social gesture, elderly mothers were honoured and gifted clothes. Gautam Pal, the owner, personally handed over the gifts, showcasing a heartfelt connection to his roots and respect for senior citizens.
Speaking to the media, Minister Chowdhury highlighted the economic benefits of the reopening: "This relaunch not only restores essential fuel services to the area but also reinstates job opportunities for locals who were previously employed here."
The reopening has rekindled optimism among residents and the business community alike. Locals view this as a positive move that can catalyse further development in the region. The revival of Ganpati Petrol Pump stands as a symbol of public-private cooperation contributing to both service accessibility and social welfare in Jirania.
