West Agartala Police have successfully arrested three notorious thieves in connection with a theft that took place at a government residential quarter located in Kunjanaban. The incident, which had caused concern among the residents of the area, was swiftly investigated by law enforcement, leading to the arrest of the culprits and recovery of most of the stolen items.
According to police sources, the trio was involved in a planned burglary at a government official's residence. Stolen items included high-value electronics and household items, namely an iPad, an iPhone, two wristwatches, brass utensils, and other valuables. The stolen property was recovered during the follow-up operation following the arrests.
The police stated that all three individuals had a criminal background and were known to be involved in several theft cases across the city. Based on intelligence and surveillance inputs, the officers were able to trace the accused, apprehend them, and recover the stolen items within a short span of time.
Following their arrest, all three accused were produced before the learned court on Saturday and have been remanded as per judicial procedure. The case is currently under further investigation to ascertain if the accused are part of a larger network or gang involved in organised theft in government and private properties.
Residents of Kunjanaban have expressed relief and gratitude towards the police for their prompt and effective action. The incident also prompted the authorities to reassess the security measures in the area to prevent similar thefts in the future.
The police have urged citizens to remain alert and report any suspicious activities to help maintain law and order in the city.
