Tripura’s Arshia Das Creates History at the Asian Individual Women’s Chess Championship

 



Tripura’s young chess prodigy Arshia Das has made the state and country proud by scripting a new chapter in her sporting career on the international chess stage. Participating in the Asian Individual Women’s Chess Championship 2025, held in Al Ain, United Arab Emirates, Arshia has achieved her first Women International Master (WIM) norm and successfully crossed the 2200 international rating mark.

Displaying remarkable skills and consistency, Arshia secured 5 points out of 9 rounds, leading to a gain of 40 international rating points. Competing against nearly 100 top players from 33 countries, she earned the 29th position, a respectable finish that reflects her potential and growing stature in the chess world.

This achievement is a significant milestone in her journey, marking her rise among elite chess players on the continental stage. Her performance not only brings recognition to Tripura but also inspires many budding players from the North-East region to dream big and pursue chess at a competitive level.

Arshia’s dedication and perseverance continue to shine through, as she steadily moves closer to greater achievements in the international arena. With one WIM norm now in hand, she is on track toward the prestigious Women International Master title, and her success is being celebrated widely in her home state.
