Air India AI171 Crash Triggers International Mourning; UK, Ukraine, and Russia Respond Ahmedabad/London,

In a heartbreaking turn of events, Air India Flight AI171, a Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner bound for London, crashed shortly after takeoff from Ahmedabad’s international airport. The crash site in Meghaninagar has become the focus of rescue efforts and grief, with 242 people aboard, including 53 British nationals.
World leaders reacted swiftly. British PM Keir Starmer termed it “devastating” and affirmed, “Our priority is to support families of the victims. We’re working closely with Indian authorities.”
UK Defence Secretary David Lammy reassured that the UK government is engaging with Indian officials to support British nationals and determine the cause of the crash.
Former Home Secretary Priti Patel urged the government to act quickly to assist grieving British families.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky offered heartfelt condolences, extending support to India, the UK, Portugal, and Canada.
Russia’s Ambassador in India, Denis Alipov, expressed deep regret and termed it a “major aviation tragedy.”
Rescue operations continue at the crash site, with a high-level probe initiated by Indian aviation authorities. Air India has set up a helpline and is working with foreign embassies to assist affected families and passengers.
