Tripura witnessed a significant day in its agricultural journey on Wednesday as Agriculture Minister Ratan Lal Nath unveiled the statue of Dr. M. S. Swaminathan at the Agriculture Research Station in AD Nagar.

Paddy seed certification approval
Nath announced that Tripura has received central approval to certify paddy seeds for Manipur and Mizoram, marking a milestone in regional agricultural cooperation.
Krishi Help Museum and exhibitions
The Minister also inaugurated a Krishi Help Museum, showcasing innovative agricultural projects, special rice and millet varieties, and modern farming techniques.

Two successful farmers were felicitated during the event for their remarkable achievements in agriculture.
Modern farming and integrated growth
Nath emphasised the importance of integrated agriculture, including vegetables, pulses, fisheries, livestock and agro-forestry alongside paddy. He said India’s strong export basket of rice, sugar, fish, milk, eggs and spices stands as a testimony to Swaminathan’s vision.
Tripura’s strides
He revealed that 31 of Tripura’s 58 blocks are now self-sufficient in food grain cultivation. Nath added, “If agriculture fails, the economy fails. That is why we are leaving no stone unturned to modernise farming.”
