The Asmita City League’ to be Held at Raima Swimming Pool, Agartala


With the support of the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India, the Khelo India State Centre of Excellence is set to organise ‘The Asmita City League’ at Raima Swimming Pool, Badharghat, Agartala. The event aims to promote excellence in sports and provide a competitive platform for emerging athletes.


Several eminent personalities will be present at the event, including Paimong Mong, Joint Director, YAS Department, Government of Tripura; Biplab Kumar Datta, Deputy Director; Dr Surjya Janta Paul, High-Performance Director, Khelo India Centre; Apu Roy, Joint Secretary, Tripura School Sports Board; Pradip Sarkar, Judo Coach; Angshuman Dasgupta, Physiotherapist, Khelo India; and Suman Debnath, Young Professional, Khelo India. Their presence will add significance to the league, inspiring young athletes to pursue sporting excellence.


The competition is expected to witness high enthusiasm from participants and spectators alike, fostering a culture of sportsmanship and skill development. The initiative aligns with the broader objectives of the Khelo India programme, which seeks to nurture grassroots talent and elevate India’s stature in global sports.

Officials have emphasised the importance of such events in promoting sports among the youth, ensuring structured training, and identifying future champions.
