High-Level Task Force on Investment Promotion in NER Holds First Meeting

 




Agartala, April 7, 2025:
The High-Level Task Force on Investment Promotion in the North Eastern Region, constituted by the North Eastern Council (NEC), held its first virtual meeting today under the chairmanship of its Convener. The session witnessed the presence of several distinguished leaders and officials, including the Union Minister for Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER), Shri Jyotiraditya Scindia, and the Chief Ministers of Nagaland, Meghalaya, and Sikkim—Shri Neiphiu Rio, Shri Conrad K. Sangma, and Shri Prem Singh Tamang.

Tripura Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha, along with senior officials from the state, participated in the meeting virtually from the Civil Secretariat’s conference hall in Agartala.

The meeting focused on identifying key opportunities and challenges in attracting investments to the North Eastern region and developing a strategic roadmap to enhance the region’s economic growth. The discussions covered vital aspects such as infrastructure development, policy harmonisation among states, and improving the ease of doing business.

All stakeholders agreed on the need for a collaborative and coordinated approach to position the region as a preferred investment destination for both domestic and international investors. The Union Minister assured full support from the Centre to facilitate investment-friendly reforms and infrastructure projects across the region.

The meeting concluded with a shared commitment to unlock the immense potential of the North East and transform it into a vibrant hub of sustainable investment and inclusive growth.
