ICAR-KVK West Tripura Successfully Conducts Training-cum-Input Distribution Programme on Integrated Organic Duck Farming

Agartala, 10th September:
ICAR–Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), West Tripura, in collaboration with ICAR–Central Sheep and Wool Research Institute (CSWRI), Avikanagar, Rajasthan, successfully conducted a two-day Training-cum-Input Distribution Programme on Integrated Organic Duck Farming under the NEH component from 8th to 9th September 2025 at Belbari, West Tripura.
A total of 40 farmers and farm women benefitted from the initiative. Participants received ducklings, livestock feed, and essential veterinary medicines from ICAR-CSWRI. The programme’s objective was to promote sustainable livelihoods by integrating organic farming practices with duck rearing, ensuring both nutritional security and enhanced farm income for rural households.
The event was graced by several dignitaries, including Dr. Biswajit Das, Head (I/C), ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, Tripura Centre, and Dr. Vinay Singh, Scientist (Poultry Science). Veterinary scientists Dr. Ranjeet Singh Godara and Dr. Arvind Soni from ICAR-CSWRI actively engaged with the farmers, providing valuable technical guidance.
On behalf of KVK West Tripura, Dr. Mandira Chakraborti, SMS (Agronomy) & (I/C), extended a warm welcome to all guests and participants. The programme was coordinated by Mr. Debashis Datta, SMS (Agril. Extension), with significant contributions from Dr. Maibam Baby Devi, SMS (Home Science), and Dr. Nagaraju M.C., SMS (Agricultural Entomology).
During the technical sessions, experts emphasized the potential of organic duck farming as part of integrated farming systems, highlighting low-cost rearing techniques and health management. Farmers appreciated the hands-on training and timely input support.
The programme concluded on a positive note, reinforcing the commitment of ICAR-CSWRI, Avikanagar, and KVK West Tripura towards empowering farmers through knowledge sharing, capacity building, and resource support for sustainable agricultural development in the region.
